It was always the Almond Joy. Do you know about the Halloween Candy Satisfaction Score? Or maybe I'm using the wrong term - some of you may call it a "Halloween Quotient". Ring any bells? No? Ok fine - no one does this, but every house has one. And as kids we've all experienced them! The house that gave out pennies and pencils - that’s a 1, and the full-size Hershey bars - an automatic 10. Tracking me now? This morning I went to purchase candy for Halloween. I didn’t plan ahead, inventory was low, and I missed out on the awesome mix pack of Sour Patch Kids, Butterfingers, and Reese’s Take 5 (seriously, Reeses - you win Halloween). But I also couldn’t get myself to lower my standards and grab the discount Mary Janes and Payday bars either. Why? I wanted a high Halloween Candy Satisfaction Score. We all do! So yeah, it’s not a real measure of satisfaction - but you still know it exists - and it matters to you. Tomorrow night you’ll see the scores generate in realtime on the faces of those little Barbies and Kens as they ring your doorbell and peer up with unchecked optimism. Do you really want to pass them a box of Good & Plenty’s? Are you prepared to absorb the feeling of crushing their joy in an instant, as they lower their pillowcases and drop their heads. Not to mention the watchful parents behind who are calculating their own scores - and judging you. Kentastic? Hardly. What kind of monster have you become? So why, would we act the same way with our clients (…see how I brought that around?) Every Zoom, every email, every interaction is an opportunity to measure your clients’ satisfaction. Keep it simple. Green, Yellow, Red. Green = good, Yellow = make some changes, Red = it’s probably too late, but try. Take five minutes and ask your Account Managers to assign each client a color. Display your colors visibly in the office, or on a project management board. Consider it your company’s very own airline departure board. “On time” looks good to everyone - even if they aren’t on your flight. Too many “delayed” or “cancelled” and everyone knows something is seriously wrong. And unlike Halloween, you don’t need to wait an entire year to make things better with your clients. Do it now. Think about this tomorrow night, as you stare blindly into the bottomless bowl of Almond Joys. #halloween #halloween2023 #marketing #clientappreciation #netpromoterscore #clientsuccess #barbie

The sun rose on the final day of DAX with Jason Swenk and the Agency Mastery 360 to the punctuated yips of coyotes laughing across the landscape. It’s been an incredibly thought-provoking experience for us all. And as I Slacked my team on Saturday morning (yes, I thought it was Friday) and finished my plate of scrambled eggs, local potatoes, and wild mushrooms - I found myself laughing with new friends, discussing potential partnerships, and pondering a fresh focus for Peaktwo and our path forward. This mornings’s session had us reflect on feedback from our teams back home, and then breakout into smaller groups to discuss specific areas of need. Ironically for a marketing group agency owner, I found myself with a group discussing - marketing. Why is it that we struggle to do the one thing we implement so successfully for our clients? Then it was off to the sand dunes for a final ride before returning to the homestead for another stellar meal and bonfire under the stars.
